Gunsmithing is a craft that has long been a part of American history and culture. Gunsmiths have been responsible for some of the most historic technological advancements in firearm history, their raw skills and artistry making them unique to the trade. Leatherneck Gunsmithing is owned and operated by David Johnson, a second-generation gunsmith who has a passion for guns and a passion for service.

Dave’s father started gunsmithing after serving in the Army during WWII. As he was working in a machine shop and putting himself through college to become a chemist. His job and schooling were a perfect match to being a gunsmith. These skills and traits he passed on to Dave. At an early age Dave learned the mechanical process firearms use, and the chemistry involved. Dave spent countless hours in the gun shop working alongside his Father.

Leatherneck Gunsmithing has a lifetime of expertise and attention to detail and will provide quality restoration so that you can enjoy your firearm for years to come.

We specialize in restoring all makes and models of guns and have a high standard of quality for our work.

Dave’s knowledge and capabilities also allow him to build that custom rifle you desire.

Dave proudly served in the US Navy & the Marine Corps as a weapons instructor and radio operator. Carrying on the tradition, both of Dave’s sons also proudly serve in the USMC. David and his wife Mary’s families have a deep-rooted history in serving the United States of America. Their families have fought for our Independence during the Revolutionary War, the reuniting of our country in the 1860’s, against the Axis powers and their goal of world domination, and now we fight against leaders who rule with fear and terror. We have fought for other countries, and their cause. When you visit his shop, you will see the generations of pictures of service.

Dave is an avid outdoorsman and also spends some of his time giving back to the veterans who have served this great nation of ours. Take a look at the links page under the heading Vet’s for Vet’s. The organizations listed sole purpose is to give back and show thanks for the service and sacrifice all veterans of this country have given.
